Privacy Policy

The short version

Your videos, photos, audio and projects are edited and stored on your device. We never upload them.
There is no sign-up. The app creates a random, anonymous ID so features like credits and invites work.
The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Personalised ads only run if you allow them.
We don't sell your personal information, and you can ask us to delete your data at any time.

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Reeltap (“Reeltap”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the Reeltap mobile app (the “App”) and the website at reeltap.app (together, the “Services”). Reeltap is the controller of the personal data described here. Questions? Write to [email protected].

2. What stays on your device

Reeltap is built so that the content you edit never has to leave your phone:

Videos, photos and audio you add to a project are read from your library and processed locally. We do not upload, view or store them on our servers.
Projects and drafts are saved in the App's private storage on your device. Deleting a project or uninstalling the App removes them.
Auto captions are made with speech-recognition models that run on your device. Your audio is not sent to us or to any speech service.
Background removal, tracking, stabilisation and effects run on your device's processor and GPU.
Exports are saved to your Photos library or shared wherever you choose — that choice is yours, and we don't see it.

3. Information we collect

Category	What it is	Why
Anonymous app ID	A random identifier created on first launch and kept in your device's keychain. It is not linked to your name, email or phone number.	To run your app account: credits, rewards, invite codes and settings, and to protect against abuse.
Profile details you choose to add	An optional display name, and invite codes you send or redeem.	To show your profile and apply invite rewards.
Technical data	IP address, device model, operating-system version, App version, language and region, and request timestamps. These are sent automatically when the App talks to our servers.	To deliver the right configuration and content, keep the Services secure, and fix problems.
Content downloads	Which templates, effects, fonts, sounds or model files your device downloads.	To deliver those files and understand what's popular.
Caption text you choose to translate	The text of your subtitles (not audio or video), only when you tap Translate.	To return a translation. See section 5.
Advertising data	Collected by Google AdMob — see section 6.	To show and measure ads.
Messages to support	Your email address and whatever you write to us.	To answer you.

We do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, precise location, or the content of your videos, photos and audio. Purchases (if offered) are handled by Apple or Google; we receive confirmation of the purchase, never your payment details.

4. How we use information

To provide, maintain and improve the Services, including remote configuration of which content is shown.
To run credits, rewards and invite features tied to your anonymous app ID.
To show ads in the free version and measure how they perform.
To detect, prevent and investigate fraud, abuse and security incidents.
To respond to support requests and comply with legal obligations.

Legal bases (EEA/UK): performance of our contract with you (providing the App), our legitimate interests (security, improving the Services, non-personalised ads), and your consent (personalised ads, which you can withdraw at any time).

We share information only with service providers that help us run the Services, under contracts that limit their use of it:

Cloud hosting and content delivery (for example Cloudflare and our backend host) — to serve the website, app configuration and downloadable content.
Google AdMob — to serve ads (section 6).
Translation provider — when you choose to translate captions, the caption text is sent to an AI translation service (currently DeepSeek) to produce the translation. Avoid translating text that contains sensitive information. No audio, video or identifiers beyond what is technically needed for the request are sent.
Hugging Face — some on-device speech models are downloaded from Hugging Face's servers the first time you use captions. This is a file download; your audio is never sent.
Apple and Google — for app distribution, purchases, and the optional rating prompt.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or acquisition (in which case this policy will continue to apply). We do not sell personal information.

6. Advertising

The free version of Reeltap shows banner, native, interstitial and optional rewarded ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android), IP address, device information, approximate location derived from your IP address, and how you interact with ads.

EEA, UK and Switzerland: we ask for your consent through Google's consent form before personalised ads are shown. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting and reinstalling the App (which shows the form again) or by contacting us.
iOS: the App asks for permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, your IDFA is not shared and you'll see non-personalised ads. You can change this in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
Android: you can reset or delete your Advertising ID in Settings › Google › Ads.

7. Device permissions

Permission	Used for
Photos / media library	Showing your videos and photos so you can add them to a project, and saving finished exports.
Microphone	Recording voice-over while the timeline plays.
Speech recognition	Making captions with the on-device transcriber.
Tracking (iOS) / Advertising ID	Personalised ads, only if you allow it.

Every permission is optional and can be changed in your device settings. Features that need a permission you've declined simply won't be available.

8. How long we keep information

On-device content stays until you delete it or uninstall the App.
Your anonymous account (ID, display name, credits, invites) is kept while you use the App and deleted on request, or after 24 months of inactivity.
Server logs are kept for up to 30 days, unless needed longer to investigate abuse.
Support emails are kept for up to 24 months after the conversation ends.

9. Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), keep your anonymous ID in the device keychain, and limit access to our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but keeping your media on your device means the most sensitive data never reaches us in the first place.

10. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR, the California CCPA/CPRA, Vietnam's Decree 13/2023/ND-CP on personal data protection, or similar laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a data-protection authority.

To exercise these rights, follow the steps on our data deletion page or email [email protected] with your app ID (Profile › ID › Copy). We will respond within 30 days. We won't discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

California residents: we do not sell personal information. Sharing advertising identifiers with Google for personalised ads may count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising; you can opt out by declining tracking (iOS) or deleting your Advertising ID (Android).

11. Children

Reeltap is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

12. International transfers

Our service providers may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States, Singapore and China. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

13. This website

reeltap.app is a static website hosted on Cloudflare. It does not use cookies, analytics or trackers. Cloudflare may process your IP address and request details to deliver and protect the site.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves. We'll change the effective date above and, for material changes, let you know in the App before they take effect.
